Understanding mechanisms for trends in Sahelian squall lines: Roles of thermodynamics and shear
نویسندگان
چکیده
Squall lines dominate rainfall in the West African Sahel, and evidence suggests they have increased intensity over recent decades. Stronger wind shear may be a key driver of this trend could continue to strengthen with climate change. However, global numerical models struggle capture role for organised convection, making predictions changing intensities Sahel uncertain. To investigate impact possible future environmental changes, isolate thermodynamic effects from effects, idealised squall line simulations were initialised profile representative present day: was then modified using trends reanalyses projections. Increased led storm rainfall, but changes dominated shear. Simulations initiated profiles produced shorter?lived storms, likely due convective inhibition absence large?scale convergence or synoptic variability model. A theoretical model based on relative inflow convectively unstable air moisture found predict bulk characteristics storms accurately, including mean rain rates area?averaged maximum vertical velocities, explaining is not prognostic tool as dependent speed, which remains free parameter. The study shows importance long?term highlights need include extreme rainfall.

Liquid Water in Squall Lines and Hurricanes
I n convective clouds jet aircraft encounter icing at air temperatures lower th211 -60' C. It may be reesoned that this results from (1) the melting of frozen droplets duc to dynamic or frictional heating in the quasi-potential flow around the air foil; (2) the impact of precipitation consisting of ice spheres with liquid water cores; (3) the possibility that raindrops are carried upward by ver...
متن کاملObservations of Mergers between Squall Lines and Isolated Supercell Thunderstorms
A set of 21 cases in which an isolated supercell merged with a squall line were identified and investigated using analyses from the Rapid Update Cycle (RUC) model, archived data from the Weather Surveillance Radar-1988 Doppler (WSR-88D) network, and severe storm reports. This analysis revealed two primary environments associated with these mergers: a weak synoptic forcing, weak to moderate shea...

in the area of automotive engineering there is a tendency to more electrification of power train. in this work control of an induction machine for the application of electric vehicle is investigated. through the changing operating point of the machine, adapting the rotor magnetization current seems to be useful to increase the machines efficiency. in the literature there are many approaches wh...
15 صفحه اولsimulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
